The blades are M2 HSS steel, fitted to smooth, well-shaped beechwood handles. M2 HSS holds a sharp edge far longer than cheaper carbon steel. The set comprises: 20mm roughing gouge - for removing the corners of square stock and initial rough shaping. 19mm skew chisel - for planing cuts, trimming end grain, vee and finishing cuts, this chisel has rounded edges to help when cutting beads. 10mm spindle gouge - for cutting coves and concave shapes. 12mm parting tool - for parting work from the waste and cutting deep grooves when sizing. 10mm bowl gouge - with a deep ‘U’ shaped flute both shaping the outside and inside of bowls or goblets. 13mm round nose scraper - used for removing tool marks and refining the shape of a bowl.
