Cut internal and external threads in wood. Each kit comprises a screw box with which to make the male thread and two matching taps; a starter and a bottom for the female thread. The starter tap is used as the name suggests but also the cut through threads. The bottom tap is used to finish cutting a thread in a bilnd hole. The screw box has a removable hardened steel cutter, the taps are made of hardened tool steel. Use these Threading Kits to make nut crackers, wooden nuts and bolts, toys, wooden vices or join turned parts. For best results use a straight-grained hardwood. Tip; soak dowels for male threads in oil (linseed, tung etc.) before cutting threads for a better finish. The size of the wood threading kit is the size of the dowel used to make the male threads.
