Clifton 400 Shoulder Plane

A small delicate plane with a fine mouth; the Clifton 400 is closely based on the Edward Preston 1366. This is a quality tool for precision cabinet work, fine tuning and delicate trimming and fitting. The 80mm long body is accurately machined fine grained grey cast iron with precision ground sides and sole. The 11mm wide blade is locked into place with a Walnut wedge. The high quality tool steel blade is bedded at 18°; hardened to HRC 59-61 with a 25° primary and 30° secondary bevel, it keeps a fine edge for absolute ages. Weight 180g-bg
