Polishing is about using a sequence of abrasives, getting successively finer and finer each time and with successively softer mops. When polishing steel and ferrous metals stitched mops are the generally used on the second stage. When polishing brass, copper or aluminium, these mops are usually the first stage. The choice of compound depends on the condition of the metal to begin with. We recommend using different mops for each compound to avoid cross contamination and potentially undoing your previous finish. Mark each mop using a felt tip pen with the type of compound used. Store mops in individual plastic bags when not in use. These mops have a 12.7mm (1/2") plain bore, designed for direct mounting onto the Axminster AW150BB/AC150BB 150mm Buffing Machine. They can, of course, fit onto any similarly designed 12.7mm (1/2") or 13mm shaft. They are not suitable for use with a pigtail type mounting. The thickness of these mops is approximately 13mm. Made in the UK.
