This simple piece of thin steel clips onto the platen of the Ultimate Edge Sharpening System and covers the graphite slip plate. While the graphite slip plate helps the abrasive belt move evenly over the platen when pressure is applied, there are times when a firmer surface may be required. This is especially important when sharpening wider flat bevels on plane irons for example. The steel slip plate is easy to remove after use.
