More than thirty-five years ago, Axminster produced and marketed one of the world's first four jaw self centring chucks for woodturners. Over the years, much of the development has come from the feedback and input of professional woodturners. With over three decades of experience in production and design, we believe these latest chucks are very best on the market today. Manufacturing of the Evolution chucks, jaws and accessories is done entirely in our production facility here in Axminster. The Evolution SK114 features a super-slim 114mm (4.5") diameter stainless steel body incorporating our SafetyJaw© accessory mounting jaws. The ultra-compact design keeps the workpiece as close as possible to headstock of your lathe to lessen the load on the bearings and prevent unwanted vibration during heavy stock removal. The longer accessory mounting jaws increase the contact area within the slide ways of the chuck, further minimising vibration during use. The Evolution is fully compatible with all accessory jaws. All you need to do is choose the chuck thread to suit your lathe. Made entirely in Axminster, UK. Supplied with soft grip chuck key. Note: 720953 - M33 x 3.5mm chuck is suitable for standard M33 x 3.5mm threads and lathes with an ASR spindle for running in reverse. It has an ASR groove machined on the extended chuck body, which can be used in conjunction with the 109370 ASR Locking Ring (sold separately). This secures the chuck onto the lathe, allowing the lathe to run safely in reverse. If want to run in reverse, you require a lathe with an M33 x 3.5mm EURO standard (ASR) spindle.
