Lime (Tilia vulgaris) is also called Linden (or Basswood US), is most commonly used for carving, but also turns well. It has a smooth texture and even grain, making it a popular and preferred option for both carving and turning. Lime has a pale yellowish white colour and is well known for taking fine and crisp detail. It cuts easily with sharp hand tools and finishes well.
