The No.92 comes into its own when cleaning and fine tuning tenon shoulders, hence the name. The body is cast and machined from fine grey iron. It is precision ground and polished to ensure the sole is flat and the sides are square to the sole. A finger recess on both sides and a well-rounded upper section make a comfortable grip and easy control. The 19mm full width blade is micro adjustable for precise control of the depth of cut. The blade is a fraction of a smidgen wider than the body making it easier to set for work into the corner of a shoulder. The mouth is adjustable, by moving the upper section forwards or backwards, for fine or coarse work. Removing the upper section completely, converts the plane into a chisel plane. A small set screw inside the front section ensures you retain the original mouth setting when reassembling the plane. The O1 steel blade comes with a 25° bevel and only requires honing before use ( a 30° micro bevel can be done in less than a minute). The Axminster Workshop No.92 is a sound investment in your woodwork and represents good value for money.
