These saws are still made in Sheffield to their original specifications. The blade is high quality alloy steel, taper ground to prevent binding in the cut. These saws are precisely set and sharpened by hand to ensure the best possible cut without binding. A breasted tooth-line ensures an efficient and consistent cutting action. The Dorchester Panel Saw has 10tpi. Traditionally as the name implies it was used to crosscut panels to size. The panels being relatively thin required a finer toothed saw to achieve a clean finish. The handle is American Black Walnut finished with Danish Oil and fixed with solid brass screws.
