    Description

A very useful tool for many 'small jobs'. This Rider Bradawl has a CNC turned stainless steel handle with a replaceable hardened tip. The handle is nicely rounded for comfort. The tip fits into a 12mm hole in the handle and is held securely in place with a grub screw. (Potentially the handle can be used for other types of tool with a 8mm shank). Bradawls are maybe one of mankind’s oldest tools, with examples being found dating from the neolithic period. Bradawls are common tools used in many different trades. In woodworking these pointed tools are often used to scribe a line, along the grain when laying out (scratch awl). Another use is to make a small hole to create a start for a drill bit. The hole reduces the chances of the drill bit from wandering, thus damaging the surrounding surface. (It takes a couple of seconds to make a hole with an Bradawl, which is much less than it takes to redo or make a repair.) Note: A bradawl has a small chisel tip and is used to produce a starter hole for a screw. Made in Britain
