The design and build quality are second to none. Robust Scout is one solid, well built benchtop lathe. To begin with you get stainless steel bed ways on a rigid fabricated steel bed. A 1.1kw motor and inverter offer dial controlled variable speed (50-3,000rpm), with digital readout and reverse. The single pulley design means plenty of torque, without fiddly belt changes. The spindle lock disconnects the controls preventing accidental start-up. Another great safety feature is the stop bar, running the full length of the lathe bed. With both hands holding a tool, a quick nudge with your hip stops the lathe. The headstock has a 24-hole index with each stop lockable with a pin. The tailstock quill has 75mm of smooth travel for boring. Overall the Scout is a lot of lathe. Optional accessories include a bed extension, increasing the standard 660mm between centres to 1,065mm, and the unique universal stand, which is adjustable in height and can even be configured to allow you to turn whilst seated.
